# Rename Attributes — standardize attribute names

Renames attributes throughout a model using an Excel mapping workbook, with separate mappings for 3D and IntelliPID data.

## Use

1. Install the plugin and place [UPVBPluginRenameAttributes.xml](UPVBPluginRenameAttributes/UPVBPluginRenameAttributes/UPVBPluginRenameAttributes.xml) beside it.
2. Set `ConnectionString` to the workbook path and set `SheetName3D` / `SheetNamePID` to the sheets to process. Leave a sheet-name setting empty to skip that data type.
3. In each sheet, use the exact headers `Original Name` and `New Name`:

4. Optionally place `RenameAttributes.xlsx` beside the first input session; it overrides the configured workbook path.
5. Export and inspect attribute names on representative objects.

## Checks

These are global attribute-name changes, not per-object value replacements. Update downstream searches, mappings or reports that depend on the old names. Use `ProcessOrder` to coordinate with other plugins.

Blank mappings are skipped. Missing original attributes generate warnings. Conflicts with an existing destination name may produce errors; inspect the log rather than assuming a merge. If nothing is renamed, verify the workbook path, sheet names and exact column headers.
